Rebecca Armacost, Director

Rebecca Armacost is the Executive Director of the Mediation Training Institute (MTI), senior faculty member and executive coach at Eckerd College. She leads the Mediation Training Institute which certifies trainers, coaches and consultants to train and facilitate various conflict and mediation programs and products. With over 25 years of experience as an executive and senior leader in Global Human Resource Management and Organizational Development, Rebecca has passion and experience in organizational change initiatives including conflict transformation, leadership, corporate culture and diversity. Most recently, Rebecca served as the Senior Director of People & Culture for World Vision International, the largest multi-national charity in the world with over 50,000 employees in 100 countries. Rebecca holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Furman University and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Development and Design from Fielding Graduate University. She is a Board Certified Coach, Master Change Agent through GE’s Six Sigma, a lead instructor for HR designations, and holds many certifications in personal, leadership, and organizational assessments and programs.

Dan Dana
Dr. Dan Dana, Founder

Dan Dana is the original founder of MTI, and now serves on the board of directors for MTI. Holding the Ph.D. in psychology, Dan served for several years as a professor of organizational behavior at the University of Hartford (Connecticut) Graduate School of Business, and has held faculty appointments at Syracuse University and several other institutions. (A former student once called him “Doctor Conflict,” and the moniker stuck!)

Dorie Michalik - Mediation Training Institute, Assistant Director
Dorie Michalik, Assistant Director

Dorie Michalik is the Assistant Director of Business Development and Marketing for the Mediation Training Institute at Eckerd College. 

Dorie is originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania and relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida with her family.  She holds an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Lackawanna College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Eckerd College.  Dorie has extensive experience in Accounting, Marketing, Business Administration and Client Relations and has held various positions in the manufacturing and educational environments throughout her career. She owned and operated a business providing marketing services and products serving customers across the United States.

In addition to her professional experience, Dorie has volunteered her time in event management and fundraising for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, among other organizations.  Dorie is currently on the Board of Directors for the Literacy Council of St. Petersburg and is passionate about the issue of adult literacy, serving as a tutor to adult students.

Jeff Newcomb - Mediation Training Institute, Product and Client Services Manager
Jeff Newcomb, Product and Client Services Manager

Jeff Newcomb is the Product and Client Services Manager for the Mediation Training Institute at Eckerd College.

Jeff is responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with the Master Trainers and Certified Practitioners trained through the Mediation Training Institute at Eckerd College. As well as managing the diverse MTI and CDP product lines, Jeff is a Certified Master Trainer himself and conducts certification conferences for individuals wanting to administer the Conflict Dynamics Profile (CDP). Jeff holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Eastern Washington University. Working in public sector mental health as an E.R. Social Worker and in private counseling practice, he has extensive knowledge and use of psychometric assessment tools. Jeff has maintained an active Mental Health Counseling License for 25 years. Most recently he was an intake supervisor in the largest mental health facility in the state of Washington. In addition to his clinical mental health background, he was the Operations Manager for an OEM manufacturing company managing front office sales as well as materials and equipment logistics. His background in counseling and his use of assessments in private business make him a great fit for his current position as the Product and Client Services Manager.
