With over thirty years in human services and personnel management, and over fifteen years presenting workplace mediation seminars for the Mediation Training Institute International, Ray brings a humorously light-hearted yet sensible and practical approach to simplifying complex people problems.
Ray earned a Bachelor of Science in Management from Thomas College in Waterville, Maine while working full-time and raising his family. Currently, Ray is the Implementation Director for Policy and Planning, Chief of the Office of Facilities Regulation in the Rhode Island Department of Health and manages the licensing and federal certification for all health care providers, and also, radiological health, Clinical Laboratories (CLIA certification), Assisted Living Residences, and Adult Day Care.
Ray is currently serving as President of the Association of Health Facility Survey Agencies (AHFSA) representing the 50 state survey agencies and he is Chair of RI Generations, Inc., the state's volunteer, non-profit, Long-term Care Culture Change Coalition. Recently, Ray received the 2007 RI Health Care Association's Public Service Award for his participation and leadership in long-term care initiatives in Rhode Island.
Both profit and non-profit organizations benefit from Ray's insight and pragmatic approach to dealing with workplace productivity challenges. Ray's work experience in both the public and private human service industry, including over twenty-one years in state government, affords him a unique perspective on a wide range of topics, including: communicating and working with public employees, consumer relations, workplace conflict resolution, and taking control of your workplace communication-climate thermostat.
Ray has presented MTI's workplace mediation seminars for a wide variety of companies and clients, including the University of Arkansas; the New Mexico Division of Rehabilitation; Advance Vocational Services, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; New Hampshire Technical Institute; and the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services.
