Managing Workplace Conflict

1. Introduction and overview

MTI has developed a three-module training program that establishes the core competencies for managing workplace conflict for managers and other employees. Each module is delivered in a half-day of classroom instruction:

Module 1:  Necessary Knowledge
Creating a "mental map" to take effective action
Module 2:  Successful Conflict Conversations
Self-mediation, a core workplace competency for every employee
Module 3:  Third-party Resolutions
Managerial Mediation, a core leadership competency for every manager

Modules 1 and 2 combined constitute the one-day seminar, How to Resolve Conflict with OthersPrintable one-page PDF overview

Modules 1 and 3 combined (Module 2 is optional) constitute the seminar How to Mediate Employee ConflictPrintable one-page PDF overview

Click seminar titles for complete descriptions.

Use of Managerial Mediation and Self Mediation can prevent up to 90% of workplace conflicts from escalating into grievances, EEO complaints, and other formal disputes.

"Conflict Doctor" Daniel Dana, Ph.D., has developed these simple, proven Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods during a career spanning 30 years dedicated to the prevention and early resolution of workplace conflicts. They are taught in colleges, universities, and businesses worldwide, including the Maxwell School of Public Administration at Syracuse University.
