MTI is pleased to report an upsurge in in-house clients in Q1 of 2013, including financial services, hospitals, state and federal government agencies, private and public school systems, and Native American communities, a trend that perhaps signals improvement in the broader economy. The number of concurrent projects is greater than at any time since 2008. The most freqently requested program is the five-day Workplace Mediator Certification Course, followed closely by the two-day Certification Course in Managing Workplace Conflict with Trainer Certification option. Enrollment in open-to-the-public courses remains weak, but gradual improvement is apparent. Applications for on-line certification, which is a counter-cyclical economic indicator, remain unchanged.

MTI Europe is pleased to announce that 1-day, 2-day, 3-day, and 5-day certification courses in managing and mediating workplace conflict are now offered in English, French, and German languages at our newly established training center in Paris. MTI's courses are intended for managers, human resources professionals, consultants and others who are responsible for workforce productivity and performance, as well as current mediators who wish to retool for the more lucrative field of workplace mediation.

MTI is pleased to announce that in-house 1-day, 2-day, and 5-day certification courses are now even more accessible and affordable. The Workplace Conflict Manager Certification and the Workplace Mediator Certification (including trainer certification option) can be delivered for as few as four individuals at a location and date at the client's convenience. MTI is pleased to announce the renewal of a teaming agreement with our GSA-approved partner for delivering workplace conflict management and mediation training for U.S. federal agencies. Agencies will continue to be eligible for expedited purchase MTI's training programs at preferred pricing. We are also able to submit competitive bids in response to agency RFP's and RFQ's.

The Dan Dana Charitable Fund offers licenses to reproduce MTI's training programs at no cost to qualified low-budget organizations and to institutions and consultancies that deliver services in languages other than the major European languages. The Fund's stated purpose is to "Convert unused intellectual property into financial support for poor and disadvantaged entrepreneurs worldwide." Interested parties are asked to thoroughly review the Fund's website to ensure donation criteria are met prior to initiating requests.

MTI seeks citations and references to the "Retaliatory Cycle" model of conflict introduced by Dan Dana in 1979. The model is one of the most frequently used concepts contributed to the field of mediation by MTI's founder. We wish to compile a record of the ways the concept has been applied with the help of subscribers to the MTI Monthly Newsletter and other visitors to this website. MTI is pleased to announce a preliminary call for mediation trainers to deliver our courses in up to twenty additional cities in the United States beyond those currently listed on our current calendar of courses. Selected candidates will attend a train-the-trainer in Sarasota, Florida, in late 2012 or early 2013, and will subsequently deliver MTI's "8-courses-in-1" certification program in their locations. MTI is pleased to announce the establishment of a teaming agreement with M Squared Strategies, a GSA-qualified vendor, to provide expert mediation and training services in managing and mediating workplace conflict for US Federal and State government agencies. MTI is pleased to announce the expansion of our calendar of public courses to include previously unserved cities in the United States as well as international venues in Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Nigeria. We anticipate that public courses will soon be offered also in Canada, Kenya, South Africa, Costa Rica (in Spanish), Uruguay (in Spanish), Brazil (in Portuguese), as well as in Europe in French and German languages. MTI is pleased to announce the initiation of a collaborative relationship with the Conflict Dynamics Profile^® (CDP), developed by the Center for Conflict Dynamics at Eckerd College (St Petersburg, Florida). Center Director Craig Runde will deliver a CDP Certification aboard the 10th Annual Mediation-at-Sea Cruise, January 6-13. 2013. Mr Runde and MTI President Dan Dana will co-host an MTI-CDP Integration Session free of charge to all individuals who are certified in both the CDP and in MTI's courses, whether certified during the 2013 cruise or previously.

MTI wishes to inform Canadian site visitors and newsletter subscribers that the only five-day Workplace Mediator Certification Course (with trainer certification option) to be delivered by MTI President Dr Dan Dana in Canada in 2012 will be held 7-11 May in Edmonton AB. This special event is hosted and administered by MTI Canada in association with the annual conference of the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society. Separate one-day and two-day component workplace mediation courses for managers and professionals are delivered regularly by Canadian Certified Trainers. MTI is pleased to announce that our 1-day, 2-day, and 5-day courses have been pre-approved for PHR, SPHR, and GPHR recertification credits by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) for open-enrollment courses in 2012.

MTI is pleased to announce the establishment of a partnership with the Insurance Expert Network to build mediation competencies among IEN's nationwide network of insurance professionals. The initial mediator certification course for IEN was held in New Jersey in December 2011, Additional courses are scheduled for Orlando FL and Oakland CA in the first and second quarters of 2012, and may be followed by others throughout the United States. MTI is pleased to announce that the Managing Workplace Conflict course was delivered to Afghan civic leaders in September by Certified Trainer Lisa Gibson. Following is an extract of Ms Gibson's post-training report:

"The training in Afghanistan was a huge success. In fact, I heard recently that the class is still talking about the course. What was most encouraging to me was to hear them talking immediately about to apply what they were learning on a much larger scale in trying to resolve conflict between tribes and nations. They also asked really important questions on how to apply what they were learning in a culture that doesn't apologize (because of the need to save face). Many shared personal stories with me of real conflicts they had in their lives and asked advice on how to apply it." (view group photo)

Ms Gibson is scheduled to deliver MTI's course for the Libya Leadership Training Institute in Benghazi in early 2012.

Biodata: Lisa Gibson is an attorney, conflict mitigator, and author of the award winning book Life In Death: A Journey From Terrorism To Triumph. This story chronicles the death of her brother in the 1988 terrorist bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland and how she has dedicated her life to forgiveness, reconciliation and overcome evil with good. One of her life missions is to prevent future acts of terrorism by helping people prevent and overcome conflict. She was in Afghanistan for International Peace Day, September 21st, to train leaders at the Institute for Leadership Development in "Managing Workplace Conflict."

MTI is pleased to announce that the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society (AAMS) has been designated as MTI's country representative for Canada, and is capable of delivering MTI's courses throughout Canada. This designation enables Canadian clients to receive in-house training delivered by MTI-certified trainers based in Canada, and to establish service contracts in Canadian currency. MTI is pleased to announce that Spanish-language resources supporting the Certification Course in Managing Workplace Conflict (one- and two-day options only) have been revised and updated, which is available for in-house and hosted presentations throughout Latin America. MTI's Company Licensing for Strategic Conflict Management is also available for Spanish-speaking organizations, including a no-travel option. A Certification Course in Spanish will be offered aboard the Mediation-at-Sea Cruise, November 6-13, 2011, from New Orleans to the Western Caribbean. MTI is pleased to announce that the non-partisan "Elect Mediators to Public Office" project is being relaunched for the 2012 election cycle in the United States. As explained in the initial press release, we believe that having more mediators in public office, who possess knowledge and skills for non-adversarial resolution of differences, will result in better political processes and better government. Mediators and others who desire less polarization and more collaboration in government at all levels are asked to support the project — EMPO does not accept financial donations.

MTI is pleased to announce that Former President of Ecuador, Nobel Peace Prize nominee, and Harvard professor Jamil Mahuad will deliver workshops aboard MTI's 9th annual Mediation-at-Sea cruise, November 6-13, 2011, from New Orleans to the Western Caribbean. MTI is pleased to announce that our 9th annual Mediation-at-Sea cruise will embark November 6 from New Orleans to ports of call in the Western Caribbean, returning to the "Big Easy" on November 13. Optional one-day and two-day certification courses will be held on board, as well as free workshops and other professional development opportunities, followed by an optional three-day continuation in New Orleans upon disembarkation to complete the Professional Mediator Certification Course. Seats are limited, so early booking and course registration is advised. Workshop presenters and professional coaches are invited aboard to provide services for fellow passengers.

MTI is pleased to announce that MTI Kenya was launched 18 May 2010 in conjunction with MTI President Dan Dana's presentation of a certification conference in Nairobi. Mr James Mang'erere will serve as MTI's Country Representative for Kenya to deliver training services in English language throughout the region of East Africa.

MTI is pleased to announce that discussions between MTI President Dr Dan Dana and Mr R.H.W. van Herpen have successfully concluded in the establishment of MTI Netherlands. MTI is pleased to announce that discussions held in Kansas City USA between MTI President Dr Dan Dana and Dr Byung-kook Kim of Seoul, Korea, have concluded in the re-establishment of MTI Korea.
